What is Mid Life Mates?
midlifemates.com is an online resource that caters to mature, experienced professionals who know what they want in a relationship. While many relationship web sites focus on love at every age, Mid Life Mates provides discreet access to men and women over the age of 30.
Do I need to be a computer whiz to use your service?
Not at all! You can upload photos, chat with other mature singles and so much more very easily! We help you along the way. And if you ever have problems, you can contact us for help.
Why do some pages on the site appear to have been rendered incorrectly?
If you are running an older browser this is the most likely cause of a page not displaying properly. We recommend you update to Firefox 3 or Internet Explorer 7 - not only for a better browsing experience but also for your own security while online.
How confidential is my profile?
Your email and password are kept completely confidential. Members can only see your photos and personality details and essays that you posted in your profile.
How do I contact someone that interests me?
You can send them an email, instant message them, or send them a smile.
To send a ‘smile’ is free, but to email and instant message someone you’ll need to subscribe. As a subscriber you’ll have
complete access to all communication tools available on the site.
To instant message someone, they need to be online at the same time you are and then you can talk to them in real time.
How do I send someone a virtual smile?
First go to the “Members” page by clicking on that tab. Find your desired profile / member and click on their profile. Locate “send virtual smile” option located in the menu under their photo box and click on it. Pick which message you would like to send by clicking one of them on the left hand side, then press “send virtual smile.”
Is there an archive for deleted messages from my inbox?
No. Once a message is deleted it's gone for good so make sure you really want to get rid of it. If you need it back and you're lucky the person you're communicating with may still have a copy.
How do I upload a photo of myself?
Once you join as a free member, go to your own home page and click on the “photo” option found in the page menu. Click on it and this will take you to the upload photo page. Click on one of the thumbnail photo boxes and hit “browse.” This will allow you to search for your photo that you have saved on your own computer. Click on a photo that you would like to use and it will be downloaded to our database and show up as your profile picture. To add more than one photo, click on one of the other photo boxes and repeat steps above.
How do I engage in a "private chat"?
Please note: You can only use the private chat option if you have subscribed for a membership. If you have already done so, then find the member you would you would like to chat with. They must be online at the same time as you to engage in a conversation. If you can see their “Activity” states “online now” just click on this and the private chat box will appear on the screen. Start typing!

How will I know if someone is trying to contact me?
From your Member's Homepage or your Mailbox you can check how many messages you have and how many are unread. Depending on what options you set in your Preferences you will also receive email alerts.
It's important to remember that Mid Life Mates emails may be filtered to your spam or bulk folders so remember to check for them and set your email program to clear our messages if possible.
What is the difference between a "Member" and a "Subscriber"?
A “Member” is someone that has joined our database for free and can view other profiles, but can’t send any readable messages to anyone. However, they can send a virtual smile and use our Forum at no cost.
A “Subscriber” is a member that has paid for a bi-weekly or monthly membership which gives them the freedom to send unlimited emails, use any of our chat rooms, which includes the private chat option.
How do I complete my in-depth profile questionnaire that gives a more detailed description of myself and the type of mate I am looking for?
Once you join as a member you can click on the “My Profile” tab and proceed with answering the questions found in “About Me/ About my Mate/ Essays”. Be sure to save your info at the bottom when you are done.
What do the [Max 130] numbers mean beside some of the questions in my profile?
In some places, instead of just giving you check boxes, we let you enter your own thoughts and feelings into your profile. These numbers are beside any text field where you can type what you want and represent the maximum number of characters available for use. Type any more than this and the rest won't show up.
Remember, it's important for you to preview your profile after any changes made to ensure that everything is still looking good.
